The encaustic medium is very exciting to work with-one moment you are working with a molten liquid, then within seconds it turns hard, and cold. This lightning fast aspect of the medium is tempered with the fusing of multiple layers of wax and pigments, as well as the ability to remove and carve into the painting, which can be slow and contemplative.
